Association for Operations Management) webinar with presenter, Preston W. Blevins,
CFPIM, FBPICS, CIRM, CSCP. According to Blevins, "The operations and supply-chain
practitioner will learn and understand the core logic and rational behind the food
safety component of the Bioterrorism Act and in particular the "Act's" record
keeping (lot trace) requirement. Also, how the other current food industry-wide "top
ten" key organizational improvements issues integrate and support the number one
goal of food safety and compliance to the Bioterrorism Act. The attendee will learn
about the "implied" requirements of the Bioterrorism Act record keeping obligation.
Another learning benefit is the understanding of the relationship between role of
data accuracy, data quality and data security in regulatory compliance and effective
inventory management."

How to leverage, and take advantage of the record keeping obligation of the "Act"
and convert it into effective inventory management will be described. The role of
Lean Manufacturing techniques and their contribution to data quality and "confusion"
elimination will be explored and explained. Finally the role of Material
Requirements Planning (MRP) and when appropriate Kanban to achieving "WORLD-CLASS
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT" will be examined. Metrics to highlight the result of
disciplined inventory management will be reviewed and analyzed.
